The situation of the publishing industry is pathetic. The main reason is the coming of the internet age. People are mad about internet and are not interested in books as earlier. In this age, a new author would have to face terrible issue in getting his first novel published. Nowadays only 1 out of 100 books published, gives money to the publisher. So we can’t find fault with them, when they offer very less advance and go through a vigorous filtering process.

This is something meaningful and insightful. Going through pain and suffering, actually teaches you what life is all about. It is better to get happiness through the right way. Your life clearly explains how something good can happen to you, when you are drowned in unhappiness and pain. When you lost high paying job and when you realized that you are not fit for any other job, the writer in you got the chance to evolve. It’s really true that life teaches you the hard way.

Steven Mather had a back surgery in 2001 and it went well. But in 2003, he injured his back once again and underwent another surgery. This one took a toll on him. He couldn’t perform well enough in his work and at last his employers showed him the door. The pain that he had to suffer everyday was unbearable. With this he had no hope of returning to his regular work. At last, he started writing novels. He had always wanted to write.

Print on Demand (POD) is here to stay and of course it’s great news for all writers out there. But please give the necessary thought to this kind of publishing which is entirely different from self publishing. There is also a myth circulating that if you publish your book this way then you won’t get it signed from traditional publisher. Print on demand not only makes the job easier for writers but it also helps to provide complete control to the writer of the book.

Yes, self publishing will be surely a boom for all those who consider writing as a serious job and those who are looking forward to develop a career in it. Now, the long hours of waiting is not required to get your books published. A great number of books are printed on a yearly basis but the astonishing thing is that out of this great number of authors, only a few actually get selected. So in such a situation self publication is actually great news.
